Group Presentations and School Programs

Many of our Whidbey Audubon members have special knowledge in various areas and love sharing with the public and with school children. Drawing on our own knowledge and resources from our chapter and other Audubon materials, we have packaged a variety of presentations for adult groups, children and school classrooms. Our Education Committee is also happy to tailor a presentation to specific group or interest.

Some of the topics for presentations are:

• Backyard Wildlife Habitat
• Being a Woodpecker
• Bird Basics – what makes a bird a bird
• Birds of Whidbey
• Growing up a Bird – Eggs, Nests and Fledging
• Hummingbirds of Whidbey
• On the Move – Migration
• Owls of Whidbey
• Raptors – Hunters in the Sky
• Where to Find a Ruddy Duck (And Other Birds in Their Habitat)
• What’s Going on Now? – Seasonal Happenings
• Wild about Owls
• Wings to Fit the Bird

Other topics of interest are

• Whidbey Audubon Society – What We Do and What We Are About
• Effect of Light at Night
• Conservation Needs and Efforts

Jenny Brown and Kathy Stella presenting at Freeland Library

Whidbey Audubon is fortunate to have a huge “library” of specimens to include in our presentations as well as wonderful photography from our members to make our programs engaging and hands on. Our presentations combine the enthusiasm and knowledge of our members with the amazing beauty and wonder of birds with the message of the important role they and other wildlife play in our lives and where conservation efforts can maintain their well being.

If you are interested in having a member or Whidbey Audubon team provide a presentation on these or other topics – or if you would like to discuss a tailored presentation – please contact the Education Committee Chair : (email address and phone of current chair)
